To all the bad mothers out there--and I've dealt with many of you, you can gauge your success as a mother by how your adult children treat you on this day. Some kids will totally ignore you and some will give you a relatively thoughtless gift due to social convention. You deserve it after the way you ruined a childhood. One way you are guilty of poor mothering is by the way you treated the father--in and out of court. Another way is how you normally put your interests (ie other adult relationships) above those of your child. You may have also physically abused or neglected your child. On this day, you have a chance to make amends. Instead of being bitter at your adult child for ignoring you on this day, reach out and apologize for your bad mothering. Even to an adult child, you can become a good mother. It is not too late until death—unless the children are minors and your parental rights were terminated by the court.
If you have been an awful mother but want legal assistance to have a chance to get back into the good graces of your minor children who live in Las Vegas or the surrounding area you will have a hurdle to overcome, requiring money and the services of Las Vegas family law attorney.
You will want to show the court that you have taken extreme efforts to change and modify your behavior. You will have to show the court that you are a new person and that the child’s best interests would be to know you despite the horrible things you may have done in the past. If you were into drugs, how long have you been clean? Are you still associating with the same crowd? If you fell into a horrible depression and had to abandon your children, are you better now and can you prove it?
However, if your parental rights were already terminated, it is too late. Your only hope to be in your children’s lives after that point would be to wait until they are adults, track them down, and apologize. If they do not accept your apology and want nothing to do with you—stay away lest you be charged with harassment, stalking, or some other crime and end up in jail. If you have other children that are in your care at that time, this certainly would not be in their best interest.
